Abstract

The pyramidal shape is an ancient and universal geometric shape, symbolizing strength, constancy and height. In Egypt, the pyramidal shape is associated with the pharaonic heritage, which reflects the civilization, art and religion of the Egyptian people. In this research, we will examine the aesthetic vision of the pyramidal form in sculpture in Egypt in the modern era, by analyzing the works of some prominent Egyptian sculptors, which express their identity, orientations and human implications.

Sculpture is a plastic art that uses solid material to create three-dimensional shapes. Sculpture in Egypt has a long and varied history, stretching from the Pharaonic era to the modern era. Sculpture in Egypt reflects the national, cultural and social identity of the Egyptian people, who are influenced by history, heritage, environment, politics and religion. Sculpture in Egypt uses various materials, such as stone, wood, copper, iron, bronze, marble, gypsum, clay, powdered paper, plastic and glass. Sculpture in Egypt follows different styles, such as realism, abstraction, expressionism, symbolism, surrealism, and conceptualism.

Contemporary sculpture in Egypt is a sculptural art belonging to the modern era, starting from the middle of the twentieth century to the present. Contemporary sculpture in Egypt is characterized by innovation, diversity, experimentation and openness to global influences. Contemporary sculpture in Egypt deals with contemporary themes, such as identity, freedom, justice, rights, challenges and dreams. Contemporary sculpture in Egypt uses innovative techniques, such as light sculpture, acoustic sculpture, kinetic sculpture, digital sculpture, and interactive sculpture.
